Volunteer Application Information

Interested volunteers can expect a streamlined application process. Applications are open for a two-week period every other month to allow time for onboarding and training and ensure that volunteers start in groups, with tasks and staff ready to welcome them.

All new volunteers will also undergo formal cat handling and behavior training and receive a handbook detailing rules and guidelines, plus individualized training for their role.

All volunteers must be 16 years or older.

Please note: The volunteer application is currently not accepting submissions. Please check back soon.

Volunteer with Cat Care Society!

Volunteers are crucial to the success of Cat Care Society, providing invaluable support to our daily operations and care for cats while engaging the community. Without the help of our nearly 200 volunteers, we simply couldn’t have the impact that we do. We are so grateful for every single person who has helped us throughout our 40+ year history.

If you’re looking to give back, get involved by volunteering at your local shelter! A couple of hours a month can make a world of difference to cats in need in our community.

Want to Foster Instead?

One of our most important volunteer jobs doesn’t even require you to leave your house. As a limited-admission shelter, we are restricted to helping only those cats we have the room and resources for in our shelter. Foster volunteers who open their homes to our hospice, special needs, and temporary care cats help us save even more lives. Visit the foster page to learn more and apply!

What Current Volunteers Are Saying

Volunteering for CCS is a great experience. It has allowed me to contribute to the community and feel like I’m making a difference, no matter how small it seems. I always walk away knowing I spent a few hours doing something that was needed that will help the staff working there focus on other important things. And I get to see and pet cats! I encourage people to apply – there are so many different opportunities to help anybody can do it.”.

– Dany T, CCS foster, seminar assistant and shelter organization volunteer

“It feels good to help an organization that you believe in. It's one thing to provide funding, which is incredibly important! But it is also personally satisfying to be able to give my time, energy, and love directly to the shelter.”

– Melissa C, CCS retail store volunteer

“I would recommend volunteering to others because it’s bringing love to an animal and bringing love to a person. It brings more love to the world!”

– Vicky G, CCS volunteer cat socializer
