We have an #adoptionupdate from Ellen who adopted Nova in November 2025. Ellen was looking for an older female cat and as soon as she saw Nova’s profile on the website, she fell in love. Ellen says she would have even adopted Nova without even meeting her!

“Nova has adjusted well. Nova and my other two cats tolerate each other, but are not friends yet. Two weeks after adopting nova we had to move into my father‘s house for the last three weeks of his life. There she has really thrived. Surprisingly she gets along great with my father‘s two miniature schnauzers. They actively play together.

“Nova eats like a champ. Occasionally, she will still have an accident, but she’s an old lady so she always gets a pass. Nova has become the queen of the bedroom and everyone has to pass by her to get onto the bed. She tucks herself in under the blankets at night. And will come and snuggle by my face. Surprisingly, she loves to play with the dog toys. She loves to chirp at anything outside the window and chasing feathers in the air is her favorite activity.

“Nova was so amazing with my father, the last three weeks of his life. She was still new to the family and was not very affectionate. She slept with my father every night and would love all on him and let him pet her. The day before he passed, she stayed right by him. It brought my dad so much joy and comfort in the end. I cannot imagine not having her in my life.”

While at the shelter, Nova was part of our Lonely Hearts Club—a group of cats our staff believes need extra help finding their forever homes. These cats may be older, less eye-catching, have specific medical needs, or have simply been overlooked. Despite their challenges, we know they have so much love to give, and Nova is the perfect example of that! Thank you, Ellen, for recognizing how special Nova is!

We have an #adoptionupdate from Jeanne who adopted Pippa in December 2022. Jeanne saw Pippa’s photo on Instagram as a part of our Foster Friday posts—she had been in foster care for two years.

“Pippa has adjusted very well to her new home. Pippa was very shy initially. In fact, she was described as somewhat “feral.” It took about a year and a half before she finally revealed herself to be a lap kitty. Now she likes warm cozy bagel beds, laps, snacks and watching squirrels.

“We hope Pippa’s story encourages people to take a chance on shy kitties. She’s turned out to be a little love bug who still drools when she gets brushed and scratched under the chin. It’s been a joy to watch her “come out of her shell” and be willing to show her affection to her people.”

We have an #adoptionupdate from Molly who adopted Scampie (now Radar) in October 2025.

“The day I came to the shelter I was just there to play with the kitties and kill some time. I had been looking at adopting a senior cat for awhile, but something about this kitten stole my heart – so I decided to put a hold on him, think about it for a day, and make sure I wasn’t making a rush decision. Mostly surprised I ended up with a kitten when I had initially had my eyes on older cats.

“Radar has adjusted well and quickly to his new home. Initially, I was a bit concerned about how my other 2 cats would react – but there really haven’t been any issues. He is using the litter box without issues, eating well, and always wants to snuggle.

“He is very playful and particularly likes these cloth multi colored balls that he can carry all over the house. He also seems to enjoy playing with the simple things (string, boxes, paper bags) more than fancy toys we bought. Radar plays well with one of our other cats (Moochie), and they like to chase each other upstairs and downstairs. His health is good, his appetite is endless, and he seems to be fascinated every time we open the dishwasher because he tries to jump in.”

collage of calico and Siamese cats

We have an #adoptionupdate from Sarah who adopted Max (white and orange Siamese) and Camille (calico) way back in 2011 when she was eight years old. Sarah came to CCS looking for one kitten but ended up with two (shelter names Cameron and Cameo), and they both have lived long and happy lives.

“They both never stopped being purring machines and playful as kittens. Two weeks ago, Max passed away due to a stroke, and CCS has been on my mind, thinking of how grateful I am to have adopted him and his sister from your shelter.

“When I turned eight in 2011, my parents adopted a black kitten, Kane (renamed Shadow), from CCS as a birthday present after my grandfather passed on my birthday that March. Unfortunately, Shadow became very sick only a few months later–I believe it was a complication from FIV–and had to be put down. My dad told CCS what happened, and a member of your staff at the time was extremely kind in offering us another adoption at no charge. I fell in love with Max and Camille for their thunderous purrs and enormous (polydactyl) paws, and we ended up taking both of them home.

“When we adopted them, they each came with a garbage bag full of toys, treats, scratching posts, etc., as well as an envelope of kitten pictures. Apparently the person who surrendered them was sad to have done so, and after living with these great cats, I can see why.

“They were the best childhood cats I could have asked for, and I will never stop loving them with all my heart. Camille lives with my parents now (turns out, she was much happier as a solo cat), and Max came with me to college (ditto for him). His favorite things were ribbon toys, jumping up into high and ridiculous places, screaming at the top of his lungs at 3 AM, and cuddling in my lap while I crocheted. After 14 long, happy years with him, he passed very suddenly and unexpectedly from a stroke on October 28th.

“These past few weeks I’ve been reflecting on Max’s life and how grateful I am to have shared mine with him, and to CCS for giving me the chance to meet him. Camille is still doing well and is amazingly playful for an old lady, her favorite things are sunbathing, watching the birds, and playing with wadded up paper.”

We have an #adoptionupdate from Jasmine who adopted brothers Button (now Pookah) and Coral (now Bartok) in October 2025. Jasmine came to CCS looking for friendly kittens of a similar age.

“They both seem super happy, and the vet says they’re healthy. They’re growing and spend most of their time wrestling, playing, or snuggling me on the couch. The only thing I know they don’t like is when I go to work, lol.

“Thank you guys so much for finding homes for all these wonderful floofs. Seeing the turnout and love for every cat in need there is so heartwarming. We are very happy.”

Thank YOU, Jasmine!

We have an #adoptionupdate from Cathy who adopted Nickie in October 2025. Cathy found Nickie online and visited him in his foster home prior to adopting him.

“He’s adjusting well. I am following the protocol for shy and fearful cats provided by CCS and it’s working out beautifully.

“Nickie is eating and drinking well (from the first day, actually. He has excellent litter box habits. He’s most active in the afternoon/evening and is slowly exploring small areas outside of his room. I’m letting him take the lead; when he’s feeling ready, he’ll have full access to all of the condo.

“He’s adorable. So sweet. He’s already asking for belly rubs!”

We have an #adoptionupdate from Maddie who adopted Stanley (now Scooter) in October 2025!

“I was looking for a special needs cat due to recently becoming disabled myself.

“Scooter loves his home and his family. He has two cat siblings and a dog, and he’s acclimated and made fast friends with all of them.

“Scooter enjoys going on walks while riding on my shoulder. He’ll often come with me to run a variety of errands, and sometimes will join me outside a restaurant or coffee shop.”

We have an #adoptionupdate from Jacqueline who adopted Cheeto (now Freddie) in March 2025. They came to CCS without a particular type of cat in mind!

“He is doing so great! He fully runs the house.

“Right from the start, Freddie was curious and inquisitive. No room was left unexplored, no counter left unclimbed. He quickly settled into his routine with us. He is so playful and cuddly, and sleeps with us almost every night. He loves chasing feathers, strings, springs, and anything that moves. He also loves exploring a good box. But by far his favorite thing is Temptations cat treats!

“We are so happy to have Freddie with us! He has been the perfect addition to our family!”

We have an #adoptionupdate from Alex who adopted Cheeks in May 2025. He still goes by Cheeks but they also gave him the name Beecher (or Beech or Beechy) after Beecher Cheese in Seattle. Alex had been thinking of adopting a cat for awhile and decided to stop into CCS on a whim. Beecher grabbed their hearts immediately after he went right up to them and gave head butts and was cuddly.

“The first week he was mostly catching up on sleep. Throughout the first month, he was intensely curious about everything in our apartment, from the foreign sounds of the dishwasher to the visual fascinations out the windows. Now, it is very much his kingdom! He has his favorite napping, hiding, and playing spots all throughout the apartment.

“Cheeks was cleared for adoption the day we showed up to CCS. He had been recovering from being hospitalized for not eating and other health complications that stemmed from that. We adopted him at about 9 months old, and at that time, he was very skinny and his hair was dull and shedding profusely. Fast-forward to today, his coat is so shiny, his shedding is minimal, and he is so happy. He is also very talkative!

“On any given day, it is normal for us to spend 2-4 hours playing with him. A few times a week, that can extend to even 6 hours a day (not exaggerating)! His favorite is when we chase each other around the apartment. He has dozens of toys now. Several balls, kick-toys, wands, and even chew toys are designed for medium-sized dogs. (Like a young toddler, he loves to put everything in his mouth and chew on it until it has disintegrated.) He talks to us all the time, and we talk to him. He absolutely loves—and demands—attention. As I’m writing this, he is running around me trilling and chirping to get me to play.

“He will sing to us each morning at 5am to get us to feed him and chase him around. I work from home, so it works easily with my schedule. He will play for an hour, then sit by the window and watch the sunrise. Every other hour he will nap and then play. Bedtime is his favorite time; he gets the zoomies and expends all his remaining energy before sleeping at our feet.

“I have worked in the animal health industry for the last 8 years. I am very familiar with how shelters operate with such limited resources. Your shelter and staff, from the front desk to your veterinarians, were so delightful and helpful. I appreciate all the help you provided us when we adopted Cheeks and the effort and care you all put into taking care of your lovely cats.”

We appreciate you, Alex, for giving Cheeks aka Beech such a loving home!
