Free Adoption Event & Thrift Shop: Clear the Shelters

In recognition of the national Clear the Shelters campaign (supported by NBC and sponsored by Hill’s), Cat Care Society is hosting a special one-day only free adoption event on August 13 from noon to 6. Stop by the shelter that day to adopt your new feline friend at no cost (donations are encouraged if you are able). Our vet will be on-site to answer any medical-related questions, and several of our cats in foster will be on site as well.

We will also be hosting a small pop-up thrift shop from noon to 3 just outside the building where you can find fun cat-themed art and antiques to bring home.

For the rest of the month of August, all Lonely Hearts Club member cats are half off. These are cats who need extra help finding the right home due to their age, personality, special medical needs or other reason. They may have been overlooked in the past, but we believe they can bring so much love to your life.

We hope to see you at the shelter for this special event as we try to clear the shelter and find all our amazing animals loving homes.

Note: All adopters must still fill out an adoption application and be approved before bringing your new cat home. To save time at the shelter that day, we highly encourage filling out an application prior to your visit.

About Clear The Shelters
Clear The Shelters™/Desocupar Los Albergues® is an annual, nationwide pet adoption campaign that is spearheaded by NBCUniversal Local, a division of NBCUniversal. Every year, NBCUniversal Local’s NBC and Telemundo owned stations, plus affiliated stations, partner with animal shelters and rescues in their communities promote pet adoption and raise needed funds. NBCUniversal Local’s Clear The Shelters campaign was inspired by a 2014 North Texas pet adoption event hosted by NBC 5/KXAS and Telemundo 39/KXTX and dozens of area shelters that resulted in the most adopted pets in one day for North Texas. Since 2015, Clear The Shelters pet adoption campaign has resulted in more than 860,000 pet adoptions.

*Our Mewsletter email, which was sent on July 25, 2023, listed the wrong date in the header. We can confirm that the free adoption event is on August 13 and not September 13. We apologize for any inconvenience or confusion.
