Lakewood, CO (August 13, 2024) — Cat Care Society (CCS), a non-profit cat shelter that provides adoption services for cats in the Denver metro area, announces its participation in the 10th annual Clear the Shelters, a nationwide pet adoption and donation campaign that runs from August 10 to September 10.
Cat Care Society will host a one-day only waived-fee adoption event on September 8 from noon to 6 p.m. All visitors to the shelter that day can adopt a new feline friend at no cost, regardless of the cat’s age. Additionally, a small pop-up “thrift shop” tent and Meow Mart will be outside the shelter that same day beginning at 11 a.m., where cat-themed supplies, accessories, collectibles and items will be for sale.
The shelter is also eligible for donations through Clear the Shelters’ fundraising platform online.
“We have so many amazing cats available for adoption right now, and we are excited to invite community members in to see them during this event,” said EC Michaels, Cat Care Society’s executive director. “With so many shelters and rescues across the country experiencing a rise in pets needing homes yet fewer adopters, our goal is to alleviate this strain by offering a fun adoption event to try and ‘clear the shelter’ while putting our animals into loving homes. Last year, we adopted a record of 31 cats and kittens, and we hope to have just as much success again this year.”
All adopters will be required to submit an application and be approved prior to bringing a cat home that day. Donations are encouraged but not required. To sweeten the deal, all cats that day will go home with a special goodie bag filled with supplies and products from Hill’s Pet Nutrition and KONG.
By partnering with NBCUniversal and Telemundo, Cat Care Society joins a network of animal shelters and rescues across the country promoting pet adoption and raising money. Since 2015, Clear the Shelters has resulted in 1 million pet adoptions!
